How do I write a job ad that actually attracts quality candidates?
Writing a job ad isn’t the same as writing a job description. One is a legal doc. The other is a sales pitch.
Here's the golden formula:
1. Lead with the why
Open with why someone should want this job. Don’t start with duties. Start with impact.
2. Ditch the corporate jargon
Nobody dreams of being a "self-motivated team player." Use real language. Be human.
3. Talk culture
People want to know who they’ll be working with, not just what they’ll be doing. What’s the vibe? What are the values?
4. Be upfront about salary (if you can)
Transparency wins. Candidates are tired of playing guessing games.
5. Show the path
If there’s room to grow, say so. If you’re open to flexibility, shout it.
Pro tip: Post it where your people are—niche job boards, socials, and of course, your own channels.
